Five Finix competitors for embedded SaaS payments
Patrick Huynh
CEO
If you’re a SaaS platform searching for Finix competitors, then you’ve likely outgrown your current embedded payments provider. Whether you’ve tried Finix and want to switch, or you’re just looking for a similar solution that better fits the needs of your SaaS, you might be facing the following challenges:
- You’re not satisfied with your current provider’s support: Contacting your provider is a hassle, and you could be waiting days before receiving a response. Your reputation could take a hit if you struggle to resolve merchant issues quickly.
- You have limited control over the payment experience: Many platforms start with off-the-shelf or semi-embedded tools, only to find that they can’t alter key parts of their merchant journey. Without customizable onboarding, dashboards, or support flows, payments feel more like an add-on than a native part of your product, and that makes it harder for merchants to trust your solution.
- You don’t feel in control of your pricing: With some payment providers, you can’t control what your merchants pay or add your own processing margin. This limits your ability to compete on price, differentiate your offering, or earn revenue from payments.
To help you find the provider that suits your SaaS platform, this article will look at five competitors to Finix.
In this article:
- Comparison table: Five Finix competitors
- Fiska
- Rainforest
- Tilled
- Cardknox (now known as Sola Payments)
- Stax
Fiska is an embedded payments solution specifically built for SaaS. If you’re looking for a payments partner that can help you take control of your payments, book a no-obligation call with our experts.

Fiska: An embedded payments solution built for SaaS platforms

There’s no one-size-fits-all Finix alternative: it’ll depend on your needs. But since we’re writing this article, we’ll start by telling you a bit about how we can help.
Fiska is an embedded payments provider built exclusively for SaaS platforms. Our entire model is designed to help software companies grow revenue through payments, improve product stickiness, and launch payments without needing to hire an in-house team.
We understand the challenges that SaaS teams face when launching payments, from managing compliance to providing fast merchant support, and the complexities that come with maintaining a strong payments strategy. We act as your fractional Head of Payments, giving you hands-on guidance and payment infrastructure without the overhead.
Here’s what you get when you partner with Fiska:
Transparent pricing with aligned incentives
At Fiska, we operate on a true revenue share model. Once a merchant makes a sale through your platform, the revenue generated from processing that payment is shared between you and Fiska (after interchange has been deducted). Each month, your share is paid directly to your bank account, providing you with a guaranteed stream of income alongside your subscription revenue.
This model keeps us fully invested in your long-term success: we’re not here to extract fees, we’re here to grow with you. That’s why we don’t charge any fixed platform fees. Providers who do are paid regardless of whether you succeed, and we believe that creates a poor foundation for partnership. At Fiska, you’ll never be charged a fee that you haven’t approved, and all fees that we do charge are clearly broken down using interchange++ pricing.
“We don’t try to turn ISVs into a payments company. Payments is a feature within their platform. We educate them, give them the context and tools so they can make the best decision for their business.” Patrick Huynh, CEO of Fiska.

Dedicated support team for you and your merchants
We assign a dedicated team to your account from day one. You’ll always be in contact with the same people, so you won’t have to re-explain what you do every time you reach out for support.
Once you’re onboarded, we’ll schedule regular check-ins so that we can stay up-to-date on your goals and strategy. It gives us a chance to share our expertise, and it makes it easy for us to proactively reach out if anything looks wrong. Think of us as an extension of your team; we’ll take care of payments so that you can focus on building your SaaS. Our partnership is non-exclusive and comes at no additional cost to you.
Our team is available to provide Level 1 support for your SaaS and Level 2 support for your merchants.
Imagine you’re a SaaS servicing coffee shops: it’s 8:00am on a Monday, and suddenly you receive a complaint from a merchant that your platform isn’t processing payments as usual. If the issue isn’t fixed quickly, the café could lose out on their rush-hour sales, or worse, an entire trading day. In situations like this, Fiska is available to step in and talk directly to your merchants until their payment issue is resolved. We’ll respond within 24 hours, and our team can be easily contacted via Slack, email, or phone.
Universal tokenization for multi-channel payments
We’re an omnichannel embedded payments solution, which means your merchants can easily accept both card-present and card-not-present transactions. Our middleware lets point-of-sale (POS) software integrate with multiple payment processors and terminals: no infrastructure changes or terminal swaps required. SaaS partners don’t need to go through a complex 6–12 month certification process. Instead, we send our partners pre-certified devices ready to use right from the start.
To enhance omnichannel data consistency, we offer universal tokenization. Your merchant’s end users will only need to enter their card details once, because we swap their details for a secure ‘token’ that is unique to each card/customer. This token works across all your merchants and across all channels, whether that’s online, in-person, mobile, or even for recurring billing.
For example, customers could make an online payment, then decide to return the item in-store and receive a refund directly to their card. Or, they could subscribe via app and enter their payment details through your merchant’s website. This smooth omnichannel experience is made possible because payment data is tokenized.

Rainforest

Rainforest is a SaaS-specific embedded payments provider that primarily serves vertical SaaS. Though they don’t share revenue with their SaaS clients, they do allow clients to generate revenue by marking up the base rate. They use a fixed markup, and they bill using transparent interchange-plus pricing. Their usage-based fees are not publicly listed, which could make budgeting difficult for SMEs.
Like Fiska, Rainforest supports omnichannel payments and also provides a fully white-labeled customer experience; however, their website doesn’t specify whether they offer level 2 support (support for merchants) or universal tokenization.

Tilled
Tilled is a startup PayFac-as-a-Service that serves software platforms that want to monetize payments without having to register as a payment facilitator. Their pricing options include either interchange-plus, or fixed-rate with a revenue share at either 70% (with a monthly fee of $2,500) or 90% (with a $10,000 monthly fee).1
Their API is quick to set up because it requires minimal coding, which is useful for teams with limited resources. Their API includes: omnichannel payment capabilities, embedded merchant onboarding, revenue share. It’s unclear from their website whether universal tokenization or Level 2 merchant support is included.
The standard contract length for using Tilled’s embedded payments is three years, though they won’t charge any lock-in penalties should you decide to break the contract early. All merchants with a high dispute rate are charged a High Volume Dispute fee by Tilled, regardless of the outcome of individual disputes. The exact amount of this fee is not listed publicly.

Sola Payments (formerly Cardknox)

Sola Payments is a payment gateway and processing platform that serves ISVs, VARs, and software platforms. They have two main offerings:
- With their traditional ISO model, SaaS companies can partner with them as Independent Sales Organizations (ISO) and refer merchants to Cardknox to earn residual revenue. SaaS that choose this option can share in payment processing revenue that’s generated by merchants, plus businesses can add their own markup on top of Cardknox’s processing rate.
- Alternatively, SaaS platforms can become payment facilitators (PayFacs) using the Cardknox Go PayFac-as-a-Service offering. It provides a software suite, compliance, omnichannel coverage, and risk management.
Cardknox is a fully white-labeled solution that lets users customize their onboarding, pricing, reporting, and UI. Their website makes no mention of offering level 2 support for merchants, and while they do offer tokenization, they do not specify whether this is universal or not.

Stax

Stax serves as both a PayFac-as-a-Service and an embedded payments platform through its Stax Connect offering. They charge a fixed monthly fee based on annual processing volume—starting at $99/month for up to $150,000 in annual volume, $139/month for $150,000-$250,000, and $199+/month for higher volumes.2 Custom quotes are available for large enterprise clients.
Stax’s platform is fully white-labeled, and it supports omnichannel tokenized payments. Credit card payouts usually only take 48 hours to clear, though ACH payouts from Stax could take between 3 and 5 days to become available. In addition to this, it’s unclear from their website whether they offer level 2 merchant support.
Stax does not add a percentage markup to interchange. Instead, you pay true interchange plus a small per-transaction fee ( $0.08 for card-present, and $0.15 for card-not-present). They have no cancellation fees.
